DEMA Environmental Policy 2010 (includes Army, Air and Emergency Management)
The Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) is an organization of trained, professional military and civilian personnel ready to accomplish its missions and committed to preserving the timeless traditions and values of service to our nation and communities. Our mission is to maintain properly trained, equipped, and disciplined forces for domestic emergencies, or for prompt mobilization for war.
DEMA is committed to sound environmental stewardship, continuous improvement, compliance to regulatory and other requirements, conserving our natural resources, preventing pollution or contamination, gaining the support of the communities in which we work and live, and incorporating professionalism and environmental planning in all we do.
All Agency personnel are expected to be good stewards of the environment and are responsible for understanding and implementing current procedures, practices and policies and for bringing deficiencies in our operations to the attention of top management.
We will strive to clearly communicate our goals of long-term environmental quality and continuous improvement to local, state, and federal agencies, environmental interest groups, private industry and the general public.
We pledge to monitor our performance as an ongoing activity and provide a framework for establishing and reviewing quality and environmental objectives and targets.
The scope of the environmental management system (eMS) program encompasses all activities and operations under the control of The Adjutant General at facilities and training areas throughout the State of Arizona and is compliant with the standards required by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in ISO 14001
