Guardsmen Assist Monson Firefighters

MONSON, Mass. – As concerned friends and neighbors watch, members of the 179th Engineer Detachment (firefighters), based on Camp Edwards, extract a man who was trapped underneath a tree while clearing debris from his property. The man was out clearing fallen trees, after a tornado struck the town the night of June 1st. The 179th and 180th Engineer Detachment (firefighters) are working with the Monson Fire Department to alleviate some of the workload following the natural disaster. “I’m very impressed with what our tax dollars can do,” said Donald Dill a resident of Monson and one of the victim’s best friends. “The crew, the equipment… it’s really good to see our tax dollars at work.”
