Satellite Offices Offer National Guardsmen Easier Access
Since becoming the Command Inspector General for the Massachusetts National Guard in August of 2008, Col. Paul Flynn and his staff established three offices outside of their main office at Joint Force Headquarters to provide financial, promotional, family and equal opportunity assistance directly to Servicemembers across the Commonwealth.
Assistant IGs will be available to Servicemembers every Friday during the annual training cycle in Building 3468, Camp Edwards, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The permanent offices across the state include the Wellesley Armory, open Monday and Tuesday; Building Four, Camp Curtis Guild, Reading open Thursday and Friday; and at Joint Force Headquarters, open Monday thru Friday. All offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on their designated days. An additional office in the Springfield area is slated to be established in the near future.
“I want members of the National Guard to know that the Inspector General exists because of them and for them. If a problem is not solved by your chain of command, the IG office will do its best to resolve the issue,” said Flynn.
The mission of the IG is to inquire and report upon the discipline, efficiency and management of the Massachusetts National Guard, said Flynn. The IG office fulfills that mission providing assistance, conducting inspections and investigations and by teaching and training Soldiers and Airmen throughout the year. Using this methodology the IG is able to advise The Adjutant General and unit commanders on possible actions to be taken and make recommendations on options for change.
