Paraguayan school receives donation 
 
 
handing out backpacks 
Asuncion, Paraguay - The U.S. Embassy, U.S. Southern Command, and the Massachusetts National Guard donated $2500 worth of school books and supplies to School NO. 4902 "Santa Rosa," which is in the Roberto L. Petit Barrio, Asuncion, Paraguay, April 15, 2010. This donation, on behalf of the American People, is a combined effort of the U.S. Embassy through the Southern Command's Office of Defense Cooperation, the Massachusetts National Guard, and the Ministry of Education.

Through this cooperation, the U.S. Embassy reaffirms the promise vigorously helping of education and youth services established by the Government of Paraguay.  Maj. Gen.  Joseph C. Carter and Joan Baker, representative, U.S. Embassy, Representative handed out backpacks to students that achieved the highest marks from grades 1st-6th this past school year. Among the attendees from the Massachusetts National Guard were Command Sgt. Maj. David Costa, Col. Peter Green, Capt. Brett Walker, and 2nd Lt. Tania Carter.
