CAMP EDWARDS, Mass.
– More than 20 members of the Massachusetts National Guard participated in the 43rd Philip A. Connelly competition at Tactical Training Base Kelley here on July 10, 2010.
The Soldiers from the 182nd Forward Support Company from Dorchester, commanded by Capt. Matthew Weeks, are part of the food service section led by Staff Sgt. Stenard Ross.
The team started prepping for the competition a couple of days in advance, assisted by Master Sgt. Kevin Regan, the state’s senior food service sergeant.
The purpose of the competition was to ensure that Army cooks are fully trained and capable of providing the troops with good, hot, quality meals.
The cooks were awarded a certificate and tin tray from the Bowhead Logistics evaluation team to recognize their participation in the competition.
The winners of the competition will be announced at a later date.
