Joint force Headquarters
The Joint Force Headquarters-Massachusetts (JFHQ-MA) provides command and control of all National Guard forces in Massachusetts for the governor. One of the responsibilities of the JFHQ-MA is to support all of the deployed units within the commonwealth, as well as acting as an information channel to the National Guard Bureau and combatant commanders. The JFHQ-MA coordinates any additional support required, such as mobilization of extra forces, or providing other logistical support. The JFHQ-MA can also act as a joint headquarters for national-level response efforts during contingency operations.

  • The Massachusetts National Guard has a dual mission: to maintain properly trained and equipped units available for prompt mobilization for war or national emergency; and to provide trained and disciplined forces for domestic emergencies or as otherwise required by state law.
  • The Massachusetts National Guard is made up of the Massachusetts Army National Guard and the Massachusetts Air National Guard
  • 8,200 Soldiers and Airmen
  • 44 facilities in 38 communities across the commonwealth

The Massachusetts National Guard is currently constructing a new facility as part of an initiative to move Joint Force Headquarters to Hanscom Air Force Base. More information on this move can be found here
