Reserve Officers Training Corps

R
eserve Officers' Training Corps is one of the best leadership courses in the country and is part of your college curriculum. During classes, leadership labs, physical training and field training exercises, you will learn firsthand what it takes to lead others, motivate groups and conduct missions as an officer. Upon graduation from Army ROTC, you will earn the rank of second lieutenant and be commissioned into the Active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard and become a leader for life.

There are 5 battalions in Massachusetts that host ROTC programs.  Don't see the school you're currently attending???

Basic requirements
  1. Must be a U.S. Citizen
  2. Must not reach 31 years of age the year you will graduate from college (scholarship only)
  3. Have a minimum High school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  4. Score a minimum of 920 on the SAT and 19 on the ACT
  5. Satisfactorily explain any record of arrest and/or civil conviction
  6. Complete ROTC Basic Course requirements or Basic Training
  7. Must be medically qualified

Officer Candidate School 

The Army National Guard Officer Candidate School (OCS) program gives you an opportunity to become a leader of tomorrow's Army National Guard. The skills and training that you acquire as an OCS candidate will help prepare you for the challenges that lay ahead as a commissioned officer. As a commissioned officer you will acquire leadership and management skills that are in high demand in the military as well as in your civilian career.

Basic requirements 
  1. Must be a U.S. Citizen
  2. Must be able to pass Army Physical Fitness Test
  3. Must be under 42 years old when you receive your commission
  4. Must have at least 60 college credits to begin OCS and 90 credits by commissioning
  5. Must have a GT Score of 110 or higher (AVSAB retests available)

OCS Programs
 
Traditional Officer Candidate School
  • 3-phase, 15-month course (prerequistes needed)
 Accelerated Officer Candidate School
  • 3-phase, 57-day course (prerequisites needed)
