The National Guard Distributive Training Technology Project (DTTP)is a national learning and information delivery system providing to education, training, and information for the development of new skills, life-long learning, and enhanced quality of life. The overall initiative will enhance the readiness of the National Guard for Federal service, support the State mission of the Guard and further the civil-military objectives of the defense mission.
The National Guard Bureau has responded to congressional direction by implementing a distance learning network comprised of satellite and terrestrial technology to connect 54 states and territories. This network uses telecommunications as the principal means to provide secure and affordable training and professional development for the National Guard. It is an effective alternative to the traditional practice of sending soldiers to far-away classrooms.
RI DTTP classrooms provide access to information-age technologies such as:
- Live 2-way audio and video conferencing
- Computer-based learning
- Video programming
- Email and Internet access
- Web-based training
