 Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Rhode Island National Guard

BRIGADIER GENERAL Matthew J. Dzialo;Brigadier General Matthew J. Dzialo is Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Rhode Island National Guard. He serves as the chief advisor to The Adjutant General on all matters pertaining to Air National Guard programs, policies, operations, management and command and control of the Rhode Island Air National Guard. General Dzialo provides staff assistance guidance and direction concerning Air National Guard personnel, administration, training, recruiting and retention incentives and budgetary matters.

General Dzialo began his military career as a turboprop mechanic with the 143d Consolidate Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Rhode Island Air National Guard, in December 1979. He remained in this position until receiving his commission through the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science in October 1982. After completing Aircraft Maintenance Officer Course in July 1983 he returned to the 143rd Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron where he served in a number of different capacities including Field Maintenance Officer and Officer in Charge of Maintenance Control. In August 1989 General Dzialo was appointed Commander of the 143rd Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

In January 1991 Brigadier General Dzialo was mobilized and deployed to Europe in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Brigadier General Dzialo was called to active duty on 20 September 2001 to support Operation Noble Eagle and served as the Officer in Charge of the Air National Guard Logistics Readiness Center, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, until 30 November 2001. Subsequent Air Expeditionary Force deployments include: Director of Logistics for Operation Northern Watch, Combined Task Force, Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, 380th Expeditionary Maintenance Group Commander, Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates and Deputy Director for Defense Sector Resources, Office of Security Cooperation - Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan. General Dzialo served as the Chief of Staff-Air, Joint Force Headquarters, Rhode Island National Guard. He also served as the Joint Force Headquarters Commander where General Dzialo oversaw the Adjutant General's Joint Staff which consists of approximately 100 Army and Air Guardsmen. General Dzialo's most recent assignment was to North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command as the Director of Logistics and Engineering/J4.
