NATIONAL GUARD DECOMMISSIONS AIRCRAFT
The Rhode Island National Guard’s two C-23 Sherpas will depart Quonset Air National Guard Base on Tuesday at 10 a.m., to be decommissioned in Oklahoma later this week.
169th MP COMPANY RETURNS
The 169th Military Police Company of the Rhode Island Nation Guard, located in Warren RI, will return to the Quonset Air National Guard Base after a ten-month deployment at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Saturday.
2013 Leapfest Canceled
Due to the policies and directives under the current sequestration, Rhode Island National Guard officials regretfully announced that the 2013 Leapfest, the Annual International Static Line Parachute Competition scheduled for August in West Kingston has been canceled today.

Providence Friars Armed Forces Appreciation Night
The Providence College Men’s Basketball team honored local military members, veterans, and their families at the Saturday March 2, 2013 game against St. John’s. Retired RI National Guard Airman Receives 4th Highest Award for Bravery
Rhode Island Air National Guard member Technical Sergeant (TSgt)(ret.) Gregory Grutter received the Bronze Star medal with Valor, and the Purple Heart, in a ceremony presided over by Governor Lincoln Chafee, the Captain General of the Rhode Island National Guard, and Major General Kevin McBride, Adjutant General of Rhode Island and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard.
